For international and newcomer families
International students at AVRO
If your family is new to Canada, or thinking about it, AVRO Academy is a warm, supportive place for your teen to earn a full Ontario Secondary School Diploma in small classes where teachers have the time to help a new student settle in.

An Ontario diploma, in a school small enough to know your teen
We teach the complete Ontario curriculum and grant OSSD credits, in small classes where teachers have the time to help a new student settle in and do their best work.
Families choose a Canadian education for good reason. Ontario’s schools are respected around the world, and the OSSD is recognized by universities across Canada and beyond. At AVRO, your teen earns that same Ontario diploma in a small, personal school rather than a large, busy one, so a move to a new country can feel less overwhelming and more like a fresh start.
Why families choose AVRO
The same diploma, the same curriculum, in a setting built to support a student who is new to the school, the city, or the country.
The full Ontario curriculum
We teach the complete Ontario curriculum, Grades 9 to 12, and grant OSSD credits: the same diploma students earn across the province.
Small, supportive classes
Our classes stay small on purpose, so a student who is new to the school, the city, or the country is known and supported from day one.
A pathway beyond high school
An Ontario diploma places students in a strong position to apply to universities in Canada and around the world.
Settling in at AVRO
Starting at a new school in a new place is a big step. We keep the day structured and the support close.
- Individual attention that meets each student where they are and builds on their strengths
- A calm, welcoming community rather than a large, anonymous classroom
- Teachers who make time for questions, in and out of class
- A learning approach that connects the curriculum to each student’s interests and the wider world
Every family’s situation is different, so details like enrolment steps, documents, and fees are best worked out together. See how to enroll for the process, or book a visit to talk it through with us directly.
Our international partner school
We partner with schools abroad so more students can earn the same Ontario Secondary School Diploma our Toronto students do. We are proud to work alongside the following partner school.
Canadian International Institute Dhaka (CIID)
Dhaka, Bangladesh. Located at Haq’s Plaza, 26 Kemal Ataturk Avenue, Banani, Dhaka 1213. Through this partnership, students in Dhaka can work toward the same Ontario Secondary School Diploma our Toronto students earn.
