Leadership and Peer Support · Grade 11
A Grade 11 leadership credit, earned where teens already lead.
AVRO’s CIT Leadership and Peer Support course (GPP3O) is a Ministry-inspected Grade 11 credit built for summer camp Counsellor-in-Training programs. It turns the leadership your teen is already practicing at camp into a real OSSD credit.
What the course covers
Integrated into the CIT role at camp, the course prepares your teen to step into leadership and peer support. Over the summer, they will design and implement a plan for contributing to their school or community, and apply it in real roles rather than as a classroom exercise.
Students develop skills in communication, interpersonal relations, teamwork, and conflict management, then put those skills to work in leadership and peer support roles, for example as a student council member or a peer tutor. Along the way, they examine group dynamics and learn the value of diversity within a group or community.

What students gain
Real leadership practice, genuine personal growth, and coursework that ties the summer together into an OSSD credit.
Leadership skills
Listening, teamwork, communication, planning, and peer support, practiced in a real setting where they matter.
Personal growth
A clearer sense of their own leadership style, more confidence, stronger conflict resolution, and honest self-evaluation.
The coursework
Journaling, self-evaluation, planning, and a final summative project that ties the summer’s learning together.
Who the course is for
The CIT course suits students in Grade 11 who are spending the summer as Counsellors-in-Training and want their leadership to count toward the OSSD. AVRO offers it in partnership with summer camps, and the list of participating camps changes from season to season.
